How to add a YouTube channel manager 2020

If you’ve decided that now is the time to get some help with your YouTube channel, then one of the first things that you’ll want to do is to add a channel manager.

This means that whoever is helping you with your channel can access everything that they need to without you having to share your Google login details, which can then give people access to all the other elements of Google suite, such as your gmail.

Whether you have a brand account or a personal YouTube account, it’s really easy to add a YouTube manager.

How to add a channel manager to a YouTube brand account

  • Enter the YouTube studio
  • Settings tab
  • Permissions
  • Manage Permissions (you might be asked you just to verify your account at this point)
  • Click in the top right to add new users
  • Add email address of the person you want to add
  • Choose their (role, owner, manager, or communications manager)

Notes on ‘roles’

An owner can access absolutely everything. They can do absolutely anything that they need to on YouTube.

A manager has slightly different permissions. So they can’t add, manage, or delete other users, but they can do pretty much everything else, such as upload videos, edit, delete, and just generally help manage your channel. The manager can’t delete the YouTube account, they can’t delete themselves as a user of the channel.

Largely, you can ignore the community manager role. A community manager can’t really do anything for you on YouTube. This role was designed more really for people who want to help you with other areas of marketing your business using Google, such as responding to reviews on your Google profile.
