How to add YouTube subtitles | The easy way

By the end of this, adding captions to your YouTube videos is gonna be something that you could do in your sleep ๐Ÿ™Œ

Why are captions important?

With more and more people watching videos with the sound off, we need to make sure that our videos are as appealing to everyone as they can be, to give them the best chance of being viewed.

And, we need to cater for the deaf and hard-of-hearing and those whose native language isn’t featured in the video content. Not only that, but having captions helps YouTube figure out what the content of your video is all about, so that it can rank you better in search.

YouTube does auto-generate captions for you and you have the option to upload these and feature them on your video, but in my opinion, they’re just not accurate yet enough to be able to rely on. Whilst you can edit them in YouTube itself, this can be quite time consuming.

How to add captions to your YouTube videos

So let me show you the quickest, easiest and cheapest ways to add great captions to your videos. My recommended method is to use a transcription service, such as or Quicc.

These online services generate your captions, which you can then upload to YouTube and then on to your video.

In the video above you can see me walking you through how to do this on so do give that a watch ๐Ÿ‘†

I then show you how to upload the .srt file that Rev provides you with to YouTube so you have captions on your videos!
